    Hi Joey,

Thanks. Call me silly…I never noticed the auto deinterlacing before. I usually finish up in AE but this time I was jumping back and forth between AE and Premiere and that’s how I caught it.

    Thanks again Joey,

  • Thanks Brian, I think I finally get it. The anamorphic image 16×9 (1.2) is actually compressed into a 4×3 .9 aspect ratio normal for dv ntsc and this is why the images look squashed on a 4×3 timeline. When the clip is placed on a 16×9 timeline the image expands from a .9 to a 1.2 aspect ratio providing a correctly proportioned widescreen experience.

    Thanks,

    Joe,

No one replied but here’s what I can tell you. There are 3 upgrade paths: standard to standard, pro to pro and standard to pro. I purchased the standard to pro which will upgrade versions 3x and up. Hope this helps.

Thanks Nick and Mark for taking the time to respond. I took a look on ebay just to see if people were unloading their dup systems. A number are trying but none have any bidders. One guy sold the same proc amp that I have for $30. I paid $600 OUCH! And yes Mark. The system has more than paid for itself as I got it about 8 years ago. Not a big deal, as I stare at it I wondered if it had any value…apparently not…the nature of the beast, anyone remember svhs? and soon to be SD/DV I think.
