  • Hi Tom
    No SCSI card for sale,
I’m using a Atto UL4D with 2 much smaller Medea scsi drives that I have.
The 1.2 TB Huge Systems Raid was just a little bit overkill for me.
It looks great next to a G5. It’s like it’s mini me.
I know I should have put this in the classified section but I new it would get more attention in this group.
It has one more day left on eBay.
    Thanks
    Paul

    Hi Mick
I’m actually selling a Huge System MediaVault U320 1.2 TB now on eBay.
It’s the one that looks like a mini G5.
I bought it in October 2005, just 6 months ago.
I needed the room for a special project I was on and now I don’t
    need it anymore.
it’s in great condition and not problems.
Just trying to get my money back before prices drop to nothing.
I’m asking $2500, I think they are going for $3300

    Hi Kevin

I just put a component patch panel up on eBay.
    https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7593347433

I have the Kona 2 and IO set up that others recommend.
I sprung for the overkill so I don’t need the patch panel.
    Patch panels are great things.

How is the audio working in this set up.
Audio from HDV deck into the Kona 2 K box.
I switch the Kona panel to analog in.
Monitor out of the audio out of Kona 2 K Box.
Am I correct on all this?

How about audio on this situation.
Audio out of the HDV deck into the Kona2.
    Any strange problems there?
I guess I will find out when I actually try it all.

I think I will go with the a converter box. NickNow a wuestion is

    How does this sound.

HDV component out to the AJA HD10A HDTV 10-bit Analog to Digital Converter
the SDI out of the converter to the Kona 2 card and the capture at DVCPro HD format.

    Shouldn’t this work?

Converter is only $75 per day rental.

    Now a question is…
Does the Miranda and the Convergent converters do a better job? Have you tried these Nick?
I believe those boxes go firewire into the converter and then SDI out.
    How does machine contraol work?

    Thanks for all your input.
Somebody needs to school these clients more about formats.
Just because HDV is lower cost isn’t a great reason to use it.
They will end up with these headache. It isn’t going to get an easier.
    Thanks

I’m still left with how I get all the HDV tapes into DVCPro HD format.
Unless I capture all in HDV then convert it to DVCPro HD using QT conversion.

Yeah like I’m the first guy to have this problem. I don’t think so.

I think my best bet is to convert the 7 hours of DVCPro HD footage to HDV.
I can do this with Quicktime conversion.
Then capture the 18 hours of HDV tapes.
Then all my stuff will be HDV format.
I belive my Kona 2 will let me monitor and output HDV.
I’ll have to output to Digibeta.
I think the Kona 2 will handle this HD – SD output as well.
