I have a 2.6 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, page file size is 1.5 GB. I doubt my laptop is underpowered as it can run other video and audio editing programs (Premiere/After Effects CS3, Pro Tools, etc.) without a problem. The 100% CPU usage comes as soon as I start the program, and continues as long as it’s running, regardless of whether I even have a file open.
I am not sure what processes I can safely close, or if any of my running processes would actually affect the performance of Vegas, but I can try…it may be that somehow another process is interfering.
The programs have done this ever since I installed them.
It may be relevant that I used to have a Creative Audigy SB sound card; I don’t remember if that affected Sony programs, but now I’m just using the internal sound card of the laptop.
