Hi!

I’m en editor from Sweden and I have had the same problems with OMF/AAF-exports as Ian had. I recently edited a feature film and had major problems with my Merged Clips when trying to export for Pro Tools-users.

So I’m trying to find a good system that makes it possible for a smooth workflow with post-audio work on Pro-Tools.

You said that encapsulated AAF (did you mean embeded?) is an option but when you Merge Clips you can’t do an AAF-export at all. How would you recommend a sync-process where you want to export an AAF that reference to the original sound-file?

Let’s say we only work with OMF:s. That could work even if it takes more time to export. Still, when merging clips, Premiere re-name both the sound- and the videofile and, as Ian said, Premiere creates new audio-files that Pro-Tools has to reference to without its old metadata. Even if you want to work this way, you have to have a sync-system to avoid changing the names because the metadata doesn’t follow the process. What is a possible sync-alternative where you don’t Merge (and therefore change the names) and you don’t sync manually in timelines (which takes forever and with cameras like the Alexa and RED, you don’t have audio with video so you can’t do audio-synch)?
