24p or 24a? Also, I know the pulldown removal checkbox (under interpret something or other) but it’s grayed out, it either removes the repeats in 24p timelines, or doesn’t in 60i. I don’t really have a choice. Also, will 24p projects exported to DVD play in a DVD player?

I’m not having trouble getting rid of the repeat frames, my main question is what is the most lossless way to do 24p editing with a V1U and CS4?
-
24a is different from 24pa. 24a is Sony’s special mode where every time you turn on the camera it makes sure the first frame of a shot is an A frame. 24pa is panasonic’s thing.

Got it! Great, thanks. I think what threw me off is that the actual Sequence Replicator behaviors are labeled “Sequence Opacity” and so on. When I add them, they are labeled Sequence Replicator, but do the same thing, assuming I set them to the same Add Parameter. I guess the premade ones can cheat a little, seeing as they’re Apple-made. 🙂 (…or am I still not getting it?)

If I import a pre-made Replicator, like Concentric Circles (but there are others) from the Library and look at it’s Behavior Tab in the Inspector it has two behaviors I have never seen before. They are called Sequence Opacity and Sequence Scale. How do I apply those types of behaviors to media? I can’t find a button, shortcut key or drop down that adds behaviors like these. I can find all the text behaviors, simulations, basic motion, yada yada yada, but no sequence opacity and the like …

Yeah, that works, but what if I want to combine different sequence behaviors than the ones in the presets? There has to be a button or menu or key that adds these behaviors to already imported media, right? Or are these some secret developer behaviors that only Library presets can have? That seems rather unlikely to me.

Bump.

Are we talking about the same thing here? I think I might have misled you awhile ago by saying 1280×720, when I should have said 16:9. I’m talking about how the camera shoots it compared to how fcp displays it (4:3 data looks 16:9 in fcp by 1.333 PAR). I think you’re explaining how the export process you suggested changes it (16:9 into 4:3 by letterbox). It’s my bad, I typed the wrong thing earlier. If that’s the case, I’m pretty sure I get the whole enchilada now. Or am I wrong? Either way, thank you so much for the help thus far!
PS: Don’t you think FCP would have made a idiot-proof way to do this by now? It’s kinda confusing and DVCPRO HD is a very common format …

Then (bear with me here) how does the frame size (dimension) get bigger? If it’s 960×720 native, to become 1280×720, doesn’t something have to get stretched?

Squashed or stretched?
