    Not at this time.

But my plan is to make it free – I’m just working out how to best make it so (and finishing up a few other projects first). I’m also re-recording it, integrating the latest versions of the apps that are currently in there – plus new research I’ve come across the last few years.

When it’s available I’ll be sure to post it here.

    Hi Glenn,

The hour-long video, which I alternatively switch between calling “The Fundamentals of Color Correction” and “Why Color Correction is so Hard (and what you can do about it)” is indeed still bundled with our current ‘Color Correction Home Study’ (which is what the original MasterClass has morphed into). In fact, it’s required watching.

And that’s just the setup video into the full 8+ hours Color Correction Home Study designed to replicate what it’s like sitting next to a colorist in a grading session.

    Hope this helps.

[Sascha Engel] “Did actually somebody do the Tao of Colour training?
I really like those guys work and wonder if the training is as good as their film work?”

Well, we do offer a 60-day no-questions-asked refund should you decide you don’t like the Tao training. Pretty much no-risk.

I’ve had plenty of members remark to me who have taken the training from Alexis, Warren and myself that they learned something new from each of us – and rather than completely duplicative they feel like they walked away from three different colorists approaching the same app with their unique perspectives and emphasis on what they teach.

And that, to me, is the coolest thing of all.

Correct. You can have multiple windows in a single node.

But you can’t have different corrections inside each window in a single node.

As JPo says, my analogy of thinking of a Node as a Secondary Room in Color falls apart once we get to Inside / Outside operations. Color can do that in a single Secondary (allowing up to 16 corrections within 8 Secondary Rooms). Resolve requires 2 nodes to do the same thing. I should have followed up and shown how to do an Inside / Outside correction in Resolve – which would have made this clearer.

    Sorry for the confusion.

[Larry Applegate] “We have been working on a “Quickfix Encore Menus” feature for our next release of BluStreak Premaster and Burner. Please contact me off-list at email larry at my web site below. (Leave off the blustreak). I would very much like to look at a small test version of your project with my tools. “

Larry, will do. Having made the investment in the CS3 package primarily for BD-r authoring I’d prefer to be able to use it rather than bash it.

    Thanks!

[Larry Applegate] “Even though my livelihood depends on Encore users buying BluStreak Premaster on the Mac to replicate from Encore CS4, I cannot recommend the program. It is absolutely the buggiest application I have seen from a major vendor in the past 5 years. Apparently Adobe has no interest in releasing fixes for known bugs even when they have a solution.”

    Larry,

Thanks for replying. I knew I was in trouble when my original postings weren’t quickly responded to.

I’ve used Encore mainly for autostart / autoloop. I was blind sided by this bug. Now I know why they say “Come for the BluRay, stay for the Flash”! Of course, try explaining to a client why the buttons on his BluRay master don’t show up… friggin’ embarrassing.

From what I’ve read, the PC version of this app doesn’t suffer from the same type of bugs. Have you found this to be true?

[Jeff Bellune] “Unfortunately, the only solution that I know is to either roll back to Tiger or upgrade to CS4. “

I’ve been fighting with Encore for 3 days trying to figure out why my buttons aren’t showing anywhere except in the Encore preview…

Am I reading correctly here that Encore CS3 is busted with OS 10.5.x and won’t properly created buttons upon building?

[Patrick Inhofer] “Seems to have solved one problem for me. “

Actually, zero-based .scc files are only for FCP outputs via Edit To Tape or Print To Video.

If you try to use Compressor to integrate the close captioning, the .scc files need to match the TC of the QT movie.

Took me hours to figure that one out… Apple really tripped this one up!

[Bouke Vahl] “For the archives, the timecode in the .SCC file is relative to the running length, not the timeline TC.
Thus, if your timeline starts at 01:00:00:00, and your first caption is after two seconds, that should be 00:00:02:00 in the .SCC file. “

    Bouke,

Thanks much! This was killing me until I found your post.

Seems to have solved one problem for me.

I can’t seem to get 10bit SD outputs to work quite right (Kona 3) and I’m getting bad characters at the end of each string – but I’m closer than I was yesterday.

    Thanks again.

I have a Tascam FW-1884 using the Mackie control protocol.

    No problems here.

I think I’ve had to reset the Control Surface dialog box once in the last 6 months.

Working in FCP 6 as well, but that’s only been running for less than a day.
