One of things I used to do back in the old days is use an app called
“DiskTracker” and capture the directory of each hard drive right before I was about
to un-mount them.
Then I could search this database and find the name of the hard drive that a specific file
or project was on.
And I had multiple databases. For example, I had a catalog of every DVD-R I gave out to
humans and clients. So if they needed a file over the phone, I could tell them which disc
that file is on.
DiskTracker dude died, so no more updates.
NeoFinder and DiskCatalogMaker do similar things.
