  • Dave, Shane,

I’ll try the XML thing but yeah, you’re probably right. Modifying timecode data by hand on 800 clips and risking the whole thing falling on it’s ass when i bring it over to AP just isnt worth it.

I’ll get the trial and see if i can crunch out a couple of pre-edits and save myself some time for when the show is back in production, and convince my producer to pay for the license.

If i have time, i’ll experiment with a very small edit and see how far i can stretch this theory, but nothing that will actually risk a whole episode worth of editing.

    And Alan,

    Netflix.

    Thanks everybody!

  • Nope, that just takes the timeline indicator to the next cut. I’d like premiere to actually select the clip im on, so i can delete it by pressing delete (remember, im avoiding the mouse) or lift it or whatever else i might do.

I’ve seen this done on other NLE’s. On avid it’s the “T” key, and i believe it’s called “Mark clip”. Not mark as in marker, but as in select. What you’d get if you clicked on a clip with the mouse. I do it on FCP as well. I think it’s the “x” key there.

I googled some more and from other threads on this:

    https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/887022

…it seems it’s not doable in premiere. Too bad.

    Thanks either way!

  • Hey Andy!
Dont worry about it. And you were right, the activity window (mac version of task manager) shows all 4 applications going nuts. I tried out your workflow of having AME open from the start, and i’ve tried shutting down premiere after the project are exported to AME. It works! Ever so slightly, but it works. It still takes about 30 minutes for it to load and start encoding, and there’s still some dud mpeg’s that are screwing up some sequences here and there, but at least it’s moving along.

Im probably going to take the hard drive to a bigger/faster computer and do these things overnight. My computer simply isnt cut out for this.

Strangely, i’ve had much larger HDV projects working on FCP just fine. Slow and clumsy, but still working.

    Thanks a ton Andy!
