  • Thank you for the help. I haven’t put it all to the test quite yet but wanted to express appreciation. I sure won’t forget that crucial little data point.

  • Oh thank you so much for that advice as well as the fact that it was so timely. Whew…it was slow going trying to redo each little edit.

That begs the question then, since a lot of this audio is all over the place I was going to apply that filter to normalize gain to -12 db. Not knowing any better, I thought I would have to go teeny edit by teeny edit and apply it. When and where do I do that now.

    Thanks again

  • Thanks muchly

OOops….I just checked the sequence playback quality and it is low. I recall now that somewhere along the line on this project I was told to do that to avoid dropped frames. BUT the good news is that when I raise the level of quality the image in the canvas sharpens.

    Thanks for this

  • I’ve lowered the playback quality to meduim using the RT drop down menu for starters.

Thank you for this…it made it a bit clearer for sure and I can proceed. I am sorry but I am just a wee bit unsure of this point

“..then export it as a single audio file, bring that back into FCP and use it to replace the audio on a copy of your timeline” It SOUNDS just right and like something I could manage…but I’m not quite clear on where it is that I am exporting it to before I bring it back.

I am certain that this seems an obvious process to those less green but I am so appreciative for the help.

Thank you for the patient help (I’ve nearly pulled all my hair out 🙂 Yes, yes, a COPY, of course! I am a writer by trade and am gradually attempting to incorporate visual media into my work. Funny-I must save my word documents every five minutes lest I lose a precious sentence and, then, failed to do that in FCP… when a few bad keystrokes not recognized immediately can cost a whole lot more time than remedying or than rethinking a few words!

    Best,

    Hi again,

Now when I do this and it pushes all the clips forward on the track is it going to maintain spaces along the way (air?) where I have them or will it make them all contiguous?

I just messed something up and it has taken a really long time to correct as I was not aware of the impact of what I did on clips ‘far down the line’ until quite some time later. I don’t want to do something silly again.

    Thanks again.
