There indeed VHS players with xlr audio outputs and Digital TBCs but they are being snapped up at hansom prices. Most are in a pretty bad state after 20 years or so of service.
Having the skills and spare parts to service them is a difficult thing.I’d find a reliable provider of VHS capture and use them.

How many physical drives in your RAID make up the 6TB?
What RAID config have you got (it normally ships as RAID 5 which isn’t ideal for speed)
Have you run a drive speed test on the RAID and if do how many MB per second do you get.Pat Horridge

I teach AE’s how to do this sort of thing and doing it right is a skill. Worse than that doing it wrong and you can make the conform at the end a nightmare. Seen that too many times.

You just about covered it. Content flagged as PSF can be treated by a display device capable of progressive display as progressive. Its carried in fields for compatability with interlaced systems. Which is why PSF exists.
Progressive content as interlaced not flagged as PSF won’t be handled as progressive by displays that can handle progressive display and indeed you will suffer interference between field updates.Pat Horridge

If your online sequence has online media then reveal file will give you the Avid MXF media.
But if the colourist did the conform then you may need to find the source clip for the missing shot and supply that.
Located the missing shot in your sequence. match frame and then find bin. Now for that clip enable the source file and source path columns to show the file to supply.Pat Horridge

If you hide the MC media and the clips play then they must be linking to the AMA sources. Hidden Avid media can’t be played by MC.
