    Hey guys,

I am making a video essay about a film so I linked AMA and then transcoded the part of the file of the film I need, the problem is that the original video’s ratio is 1080×800 (when you view it as a film it obviously just have black bars), so it starched as I linked the file. Is there anything I can do other than resizing the video in avid, so I can keep the original aspect ratio? If the only way is resizing, is there any formula or something so I can get the original aspect ratio, or should I just eyeball it?

    Thanks a lot!

OK…open the Source Browser….FILE>INPUT>SOURCE BROWSER. Now, you can either LINK to the footage, and it won’t change anything. Or, you can IMPORT…and in the sprocket menu lower left right next to IMPORT, you can select DO NOT RESIZE SMALLER IMAGES. That should keep the same dimensions.
