What version of OS X are you using? I think you need to have at least 10.5.7 for the card to work correctly.

Well, a Mac Mini is easy to setup and does have the advantage of being able to double as a render node, but do you really want it to start rendering when it’s also serving files to 2 people? I think this could really impact the performance of the filesharing. Also since the Mini only has USB and FW which you can attach storage to this might be to slow if you’re serving big files.

A NAS has the advantage of being able to do stuff like RAID5 out of the box which adds another layer of security. People seem to like the Netgear ReadyNAS which looks great on paper (never used it myself).

I am so glad I live in PAL land. We usually edit 25i or 25p, and even if we get material in the other standard in the middle of the project, no worries, it’ll playback fine. We don’t have a thing called SETUP. Though, I should keep my mouth closed, most of the world was digital when I enterd the business and I know enough to turn down or solve problem projects.

Why not try to put it all in a 8-bit uncompressed timeline and render it. I really don’t see a point in working graphics in a DV timeline unless you have to for delivery reasons but I seem to recall you’re going to deliver a wmv file.

Forgot to mention, this was on a AVID Media Composer Adrenaline and the second project I did online.

    Hmm….

I was kind of thinking, I’ll do the job I always done but Color will make it easier for me (3D scopes, hopefully set a “rough” primary for a reel, easier to manage which “filter” I set in what order) so I can get more time to get the stuff done well. Tried working with nested sequences and not get a nervours breakdown?

I for one welcome this as I’ll have the chance to make good stuff without forcing my clients to buy extra plug-ins etc (I work primarly as a freelance online editor).

I think it’s like when I did online for a show a couple of months ago, they had an “entry-level-grade” person doing color correction. I did twice what he did in one day and it looked better. Turns out he was using the “point there to balance that color cast” “features”.

    Check: Menu: View>Channels

It should be set to RGB.

Check to see if you’re only looking at the alpha channel. It’s under the third button in the canvas window.

    Hi thanks for the tip!

I have tried a lot of different settings in AE including (I think) all combinations of pulldown and candance there are, still I get something that looks like an interlaced frame. I think it’s random, at least I can’t figure it out but I will try the FCP sequence trick and see if it works!

    Thanks a lot!
