    Hi,
very strange that you have a problem on a older system..hmm…I had this only on a 10.7 system and with hdv material coming from DTE like yours….do you have the original files backuped? can you try opening them on this older os? can you try on another older mac?…if you can open on some mac try to do the operation I explained in my previous post.

    Ciao

Hi guys, just an update on the hdv/lion story.
I’ve solved the thing without re-encoding hdv in this way:

You need a Mac with SnowLeopard or older Os with quicktime pro installed. If you open the hdv file in that quicktime ( quicktime 7 pro, not quicktimeX, that’s for dummies..:)..) and simply save it ( by pressing CMD+S ) the file then will be perfectly working on a 10.7 system. I cannot explain why, it’s something concerning ‘flattening’ the hdv file.
Now you’re certainly asking yourself how to save a houndreds of files..:)…With MpegStreamclip do a BatchList of all of your files, choose ‘Save As’ option in the export settings and give it a new folder where to put the files. MpegStreamclip will quickly create new files with same name like the original ones but finally ok for ‘Lion’.

Anyway it’s incredible Apple hasn’t still fixed the bug.

    Cheers

Dear Mokaeff let me assure you Rijn is absolutely wright. It’s incredible Apple is not solving the problem. Hdv files will not play in OSX Lion and obviously not in FCP…incredible…I cannot work on a older project after I bought a new MacBook Pro, i’m forced to re-encode all the material in ProRes on another machine. Still no any update from them. It’s really clear Apple is not taking care anymore of all of the devoted professionals and looking only at the iPhone and Co. sales.
