    thanks, i will try that.

i actually got to the settings to work with another clip i downloaded from ‘archive.org’, but it’s in mpeg4 codec,so at least i learned how to set the sequence right, even though i can’t get it to work with the avi clips.

but i’ll try this program, thanks again

hey Arnie, yes, like i said, it’s not footage shot by myself,

i (cough cough) downloaded this clip some time ago, sorry, i can’t really tell what codec it is. i’m really new to the whole video/codec world.

file info only says .avi file

thanks for your help, i’ve tried that, but it doesn’t work. everytime i try to open the new multiclip sequence i get an error message. either ‘error:out of memory’ or ‘codec not found. you may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card’.

that’s strange since i can play the clips if i render them etc. and watch the clips in quicktime as well .

i don’t know, but all the clips i try to edit have something in common, they don’t show the ‘compressor’ when i click on file format.

if it matters, i have a macbook pro, 2gb ram, 2,4 ghz intel duocore.

    what is wrong?

  • anyone?

  • Hi, and sorry to interupt this conversation. I’m having similar problems with the timeline/sequence settings. I’m new to fcp and don’t really selfshot footage. i just want to practice in the beginning with some movies i have, mostly (avi or divx).

i did everything you described, checked the file format to match the sequence settings, the only problem is, the format information doesn’t tell me about the compressor.

i post to screenshots to make it better understandable.

what should i put in the compressorfield? ‘none’ doesn’t work. this way it still renders everytime i make a cut or move the clip.

    thanks in advance

    Oliver
