August 15, 2010 at 12:36 pm in reply to: custom DVD menu for DVD Architect PRO using Photoshop

    Hi Bob,

I’m really sorry, its been so long since I made that menu and I can’t remember how I did it really…
Even though DVD Architect is good for creating animated menus and buttons, better than Encore, I understand Encore quite well and prefer to use that, so I never returned to using Sony’s apps after that project.

From what I read in my last post, it looks like I created a layer in photoshop and named it framemask, then created the shape I wanted.
After exporting the project from Photoshop with a transparent background, I would have brought it into DVD Architect and I presume just dropped the video files into the shapes.

Now I’m not sure in Photoshop if you should crate a new layer group and lable it framemask, and then create layers within that that contain all the shapes you want, or if you need to lable each layer itself framemask.
I guess the best thing is to try both options.

I’m sorry I can’t be more help to you on this. Hopefully the above will be of some use.

    Ah, I see. Thanks.
I guess there is no way of creating a new track and color correcting on to that?

  • Thanks for your reply Rafael,

What do you mean by “your only option to recover the files, I think, is treasured”?

Is there a way to recover the files?

  • Thanks for the help.

I have the BPAVs in another folder. Some of the files will show up in XDCAM Transfer, some of them appear blank. I can see all the info related to teh clip, its duration, size, etc but cant play it.

I have shot 4 films using the EX1 and always used the same method to bring the files into FCP. This is the first time I’ve had an error, and have no idea how this is happening since nothing has been changed since the last time it worked.

If anyone has any more help, I would be very appreciative.

  • I’ve had the same thing. I copied the BPAVs to my computer and when I try to view them in XDCAM Transfer, I can’t see them all. I get the ‘No Image Available’ message in a gray window where the video should be.
However I can view the files if I play them in VLC media player.

Has anyone found a solution to this?

Great, thanks. I was planning on putting the footage on an external drive.

Could you tell me what export settings I should have XDCAM Transfer on, and how do I export the footage once edited so that I can bring it back to full HD, or is that not possible?

Thank you for your continued help.

    Thanks for your reply Kevin.

Surely with HD footage, you wouldnt edit uncompressed no matter how big your drive and powerful the machine, would you?
In any case it takes a very long time to render and playback isnt smooth if I edit uncompressed. Is there any other ways around this?

    Thanks a lot.

March 16, 2010 at 9:51 pm in reply to: Mask Effect to make person disappear

Thanks for all your help and suggestions everyone. I realized that what I was attempting to do is far too difficult for someone with my level of competence with 3rd party effects editing apps to accomplish, so I have given up on those ambitions, and kept things simple.

Thank you once again for all your help.

    Thanks for your help everyone.

I do not have any of that. I have not shot anything twice, there is no blue screen. All thats there are the two shots of the person I want to make disappear in one shot, and then reappear in the other.

While the tutorials you directed me to were very interesting, they had all those elements that I am missing.

How can I send you the clips so that you can take a look?

I realize that what I’m trying to do is near impossible and very time consuming as I have not gone about this in the correct way, however anything you can suggest that would make this look half decent would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for all your help.
