If you still have the source media card with its file folder structure intact you can go directly to final cut with Log and Transfer.

I’ve also been searching for this answer. I have orphaned MTS files from a card that has already been reformated. So, I’ve no hope of using the original file structure. ClickWrap and iSkysoft video converter get good mention. I’d like to hear from anybody with actual use feedback on one over the other. A number of the “comparison” sites are just marketing shills.
