Making .MTS files compatible with FCP
Anyone know the proper conversion parameters for .MTS files in HD shot out of a Sony Handycam AVCHD to be converted into .mov files or some format compatible with FCP? Every time I attempt the conversion either there is an aspect ratio issue or the audio gets out of sync. I’m using Aiseeoft HD Converter, but would be willing to buy something else if it could give me a quick and easy alternative. Thanks.

Give ClipWrap a try. They have a trial version.

Thanks. I’ll give it a try. If you can’t already tell, I’m a neophyte when it comes to all this. Aiseesoft would probably work fine, I just don’t know what conversion parameters to use.

If you still have the source media card with its file folder structure intact you can go directly to final cut with Log and Transfer.

READ THAT TUTORIAL, and if for any reason you can’t go through L&T fallow Gary advise and give a try to ClipWrap. Depending of the kind of “.MTS” you may don’t even need to convert the files, but just re-wrap and import to FC. Faster and you don’t need to care about conversion settings. I think they have a free-trial.
Doesn’t rewrap every kind of MTS. My had to convert my old JVC files.
