    Hi Lars,

I have tested again, in full manual mode I selected iso 1250 while in video mode, the camera went to sleep I woke it up with half pressing the shutter release and it woke up to the same iso 1250. So in custom preset, it will always default to the saved iso, in manual mode it will wake up to whatever you set it too.

I’m using old Nikkor lenses on my 7D, it’s interesting that some of these lenses were a bit soft for still images, such as my Nikkor 200mm f4, but on video it has a whole new lease on life and looks great, I guess a bit of softness goes a long way!

I have the Nikkor AI 24mm f2.8, 75-150 f3.5 E series (screaming sharp), this lens used is very cheap, Nikkor AI 200mm f4 and a Nikkor 50mm f2 but I use the new Canon 50mm f1.4 I bought with the 7D. The Ebay adapter has been a lifesaver for me to use this old glass which were just sitting in a drawer.

If you buy Quicktime Pro for $30 and the image sequence are numbered sequentially, you just click on the first and last image and Quicktime will import the group. Then you can export the movie to FCP for editing.

I have the Canon 50mm f1.4 and like it a lot, super sharp and fast. It’s a great lens to give some level of automation to filmmaking, such as exposure and good value.

No I tested it with my preset, which I have set to 200iso, while the camera was on I selected 1600iso, I let the camera switch off automatically “hibernate” and then pressed the start/stop button to wake the 7D up (I was in video mode), the camera woke up and the default iso was there at 200.

This will let you save your settings as a custom setting on the cameras dial, so whenever you select custom setting 2 the iso etc will be loaded automatically.

For the average user a good mic and the Samson zoom H4n is a great low cost solution to recording stereo sound with a DSLR

I’m using Neoscene to transcode to their proprietary 4.2.2 codec works great on a windows platform.

If you get Neoscene from Videoguys you save $30
