  • Yep, this is the way it is, but I can understand why.

    Say you have three keyframes with values, or slider pos, of 5, 10 and 15. You select all three. What do you display in the user interface for users to modify? 5, 10 or 15. The UI needs a new display value meaning, multiple different settings for that value. Regardless, if you enter a new value they could all get the new value.

    Multiple keyframe selection in Vegas seems to be all about moving them together. Not setting value(s).

    Without having the camera I cannot have any reasonable opinion. Personally I would stay away from the 1440×1080 anamorphic modes, which leaves FXP and MXP. I would expect either of those to be well more than capable.

    Looking at the specs for the HF S10, the 30p mode does encode the file as 60i. Also, it does not have a 720 mode so you are stuck with 1080 even though you only want 720 out.

    Blend, as previously stated in my previous post.

    The easiest thing to do for setting project settings in Vegas is to let Vegas match the project properties to your media. The default is to prompt you on the first media added to the timeline, and there is a button in the project properties window to do this as well.

    That will setup the resolution, pixel aspect, field order and frame rate.

    Some cameras encode 30p as 60i interlaced. Is your camera AVCHD? A MediaInfo report would be nice.

    If the camera does encode 30p as 60i, you need to have your deinterlace setting correct, and you can always safely use Blend deinterlace in this circumstance. Also, if your camera is in this mode you can probably safely use 30p(29.97) for your project setting.

    Generally, it is best to keep your project setting the same as your media for smoothest editing. There is nothing wrong with setting your project to your only intended final render, in this case 720. But then, why film at 1080 when all you ever what is 720?

    The timecode behavior varies depending on where you put it.

    Put it on Media FX and you get the media timecode.
    Put it on Event FX and you get and event timecode.
    Put it on Track FX or Output FX and you get timeline timecode.

    DV and DVCPRO HD are 8-bits per color.
    Audio is supported at 16-bit stereo 48Khz or 4 channel 12-bit 32Khz.

    Mainconcept AVC does not support AMD Graphics core next GPUs.
    Sony AVC does support all AMD, but it does not use GPU very much.

    Remember that Vegas always uses GPU, when enabled, for compositing your video and for most effects.

    So when you say “use GPU for rendering” you have to be specific. Vegas always uses GPU for compositing the video stream. Necessary for playback and render.

    Mainconcept AVC and Sony AVC have additional support with the file encoding operation.

    All AMD cards currently are better performers for the Vegas composite engine. AMD 5xxx and 6xxx cards also perform well with Mainconcept AVC encoding.

    Virtually all Vegas outputs are 8-bit color. A few are 1-bit. Best specific.

    Vegas only edit beyond 8-bit color when you use 32-bit edit modes. Otherwise everything is converted to 8-bit when read.

    You said “capture”. What does this mean. Capturing old analog video to digital or reading digital in. I double you have any digital camera that captures beyond 10-bit color. That is a relatively new thing. What exactly do you mean by 12-bit and 16-bit color. Please be specific. Vegas will list some files as 12-bit, but that is 12-bits per pixel which take into account color sub-sampling. 12-bits per pixel is not 12-bit color.

    As for analog video, there is no such definition for the number of bits of color resolution.
