They’re all the same basic title, but I still can’t find a way to do it in Paste Attributes. Am I wrong here?

  • Robin, I’m really starting from scratch here. But the internet is my friend.

If I wanted to find a video tutorial to do what you’re describing, what action would I search for? I literally just bought Motion and I’m finding i overwhelming. But if you gave me an idea of what to google for to find help, that’d be great. (That said, you’ve helped me enough already! Thanks!)

  • The footage was shot in the dreaded format of PF24 on my Canon-XA 10. It’s 24 fps footage that gets converted to 30fps by the codec. I can do a pulldown of this kind of footage which is why I’m wondering if I can just export from 30fps and then reverse telecine that.

Obviously the better move would have been getting this right from the start….

  • If I dont want to have to re-edit everything, would it work to export the footage as an edited sequence from a 30fps event, then reverse telecine that movie file that gives me?

Cool. Any advice for this? I plan on following this guide (https://documentation.apple.com/en/cinematools/usermanual/index.html#chapter=8%26section=4%26tasks=true) but there might be bells and whistles I should know about.

I’ll give it a try. If I do that, will it look like it was originally shot in 24fps?

  • Good point. Well, I’ve tried it both ways now and each time it gets imported as 29.97. Is there any way to import this at 23.98?

I have this exact question. I have some footage shot at PF24. Is there any way to get it exported from the card at 23.97 or do i have to export at 29.97 and then convert? I don’t mind if the process is laborious.

It’s the former. It just shuts off and then I restart it. Occasionally, rarely but sometimes, I get signed out of my user account and then back in. That’s an odd reaction as it always terrifies me that my computer is crashing, but it isn’t.

I’m using a MBP. Any more info on that as a hardware problem? I have another 4 months as a warranty and if there really is a problem, I’d love to try and get the apple store to somehow help me. The fact you said they dont admit it doesn’t augur well.

I did upgrade really excited for it to work better….and it didn’t. Interesting to hear that you keep more than 10% free. I’ve been meaning to get rid of lots of music I have backed up. I guess now’s as good a time as ever. I need to get this film in today for a deadline (my PhD dissertation actually….the first time my school is taking a film for a dissertation!), but when I work on it going forward, I’m going to test breaking it up into smaller portions.
