Are you sure you’re changing the actual clip name metadata as the camera sees it vs the file name.

Why not return the OWC RAM and try anything else- sounds like the more likely culprit.

To be honest I’ve had dozens of Macs over decades and never wasted time testing my own RAM. If it works- it will pretty much work forever. If it doesn’t you have a warranty replacement of about 4 seconds and done.
I’m guessing that’s why no one is replying because no one else is doing this. But I could be wrong…

Also it wouldn’t be a bad idea to reformat the slides first in a graphics editor to fit your exact frame size. Not sure how you exported from Powerpoint but generally it comes out at weird sizes not exactly conforming to broadcast frames. I usually just recreate the slide graphics entirely when I have to convert a slideshow into video so I can make them look more interesting than they did as static slides.

Well again- this sounds like a not syncable piece of audio that you need a better recording and/or format from the sound team. FCPX doesn’t really work miracles- Audio either matches or it doesn’t.

Could simply make a new Library, store within and drag all clips you do want from Finder. Then blow away everything else.
Or just get a bigger HD…

Not really sure what the problem here is but if your audio and picture aren’t lining up- try to manually shift the track. If that doesn’t work it’s quite possible however the audio was exported it simply doesn’t match your video. Slight speed ups/slow downs and lots of razor edits are often required to fix this. And this is why we still have use for higher end audio gear and timecode…

I would do some renaming of the dupes and filter them out with smart collection settings in that case vs actually deleting stuff.

Might have had something hidden someplace that caused that shift- hard to say. In general I find copy/paste attributes a lot more predictable/useful than adjustment layers which are really more of a workaround in FCPX and not so much a built-in workflow.

What problem does this cause? Sounds like the editor duplicated the MC clip for some reason which though referencing the original media are technically valid instances you don’t necessarily want to blow away. Next time, suggest he/she match frame and edit from the original to avoid unnecessary copies being made.
