Also performance rests mostly with the GPU, CPU and the specs of hard drives. Splitting up to a 3rd drive is not likely to make much impact and might even slow things down a bit.

Proxies are just there to improve performance during editing. As long as you keep the original files on your system and switch back to Original quality before the final export- you will get original quaility.

The “Memories” feature folded into iOS was kinda intriguing… basically content aware auto-edit. Wonder if that tech will ever trickle up (or is it down) to FCPX?

Frame by frame rotoscoping is super common these days- you could do this with the animation tools in Photoshop or in Fusion- now free. And next time you see the director- remind them kindly that in order for keying to work the backdrop can’t share the same color as the foreground subject.

hmm- yeah that sounds like file corruption. If they open and actually play in QuickTime Player try saving them uncompressed.

What file extension do the clips have? Are you sure you aren’t looking at camera proxies?
