Where is the clip coming from- ie is it on a local drive or attached network? And what is the clip format? And what happens when you make a new library and attempt to add to an event inside it?

Reveal in Browser would at least id the clips you are working with. Or smart collection set to show used clips from that project.

Mpeg 4 is a lossy container. Try opening outside of FCPX and converting to AIF or WAV then reimport.

There are actually quite a few controls that get messed up on non-US keyboards. Always worth submitting a note about it to Apple just so they add it to the list- https://www.apple.com/feedback/

Hard to tell from one screenshot and knowing zip about their transfer process/quality control. Asking for another transfer would be my suggestion.
