As they say YMMV but assuming you will be the only editor I’d just go Library and Media on the same drive. At this point it’s streamlined enough as a container it won’t gain much being on the system HD.

Depends on the media you’re working with- that will require the speed more than the Library itself if it’s high bandwidth. These days I put my Libraries anywhere but the system drive.

Any copy of FCPX can open any Project as long as you aren’t logged in as a non administrative user in OS X. Of course you need to *own* a working copy of FCPX ie not an expired trial to open Projects.

Are all clips from a camera that shoots a raw format?

But which camera? Because some can be ingested in sections directly in FCPX while others can only be imported as complete clips. Also with respect- a 1TB ‘work’ hard drive would cost you less than $100. Does this amount of extra time just to whittle down clips really seem worthwhile? You can always get rid of originals when you’re actually done editing.

What fornat are your clips- camera originals or rips from YouTube etc? The way you’re doing it now is losing a generation in quality.
