Unfortunately the flip4mac software is not yet updated for Mac Intel so any chance of a .MOV or .AVI?

You cannot shoot DV25 uncompressed- there is no such thing. The compression happens in the camera. You could run the S-video signal out to an uncompressed capture deck such as a Kona but I’d debate whether the trouble involved would produce a notable increase in signal quality. May I suggest going to camera capable of shooting a higher quality format- such as an HVX200 or an SDX900. The increase in cost to carry another person and an uncompressed capture system would easily offset the rental of one of these cameras.

Hard to say- at this point no one seems to know timeframe on a new version of the FCP Studio- could be fall, winter or next NAB.

I’d go with the clapper board. The DVX will not take external timecode.

Can’t help you there- don’t know much beyond the name keep trying. There’s also the Movietube which rocks:
Most of these things are so expensive I suggest a rent for all but daily usage.

Plenty of point in having HD now. You can provide a way sharper looking SD version from an HD source than starting with SD. And you’ll be future proofing all your current work for that day in the future where HD will be required. 5 years is decades in camera time so can’t really say on that one but the HVX200 looks more future proof than say a 1080i HDV camera does.

It needs to be over Firewire- SDI transfer will not maintain the flags.
