Typically FCPX requires the complete card structure ie not a single file in order to ingest properly so if .DAT is actually the entire card contents and it’s a supported camera you should be fine.

No but you can easily add additional angles and media into a multicam clip within the angle editor..

The bundle is just a folder so don’t worry too much about its size. However at 40TB any system is going to be taxing its limits especially on the capabilities of the storage solution.

And what is that resolution and codec and what sorts of drives and how many streams. You’re describing a performance issue which is typically related to trying to push too much information into a real-time playback. Also your system specs would be useful.
