Are you playing them out in stereo or in dual mono? FCP3 defaults to dual mono while FCPX defaults to summed stereo- perhaps your two channels are phasing each other down a bit.

Unless you’re getting one for free- I’d recommend getting something more modern from say Blackmagic or even Elgato. Those old Canopus digitizers capture to DV = low quality compared to modern H.264/ProRes.

You might want to ask over on the Motion forum- that’s where you make plugins for FCPX generally speaking. Or shoot a note to FX Factory and/or Mark Spencer who can lead you in the right direction.

I guess you could roll in X2Pro and then some EDL translator to sort of approximate an Avid compatible cut but true 100% fidelity is a bit of a pipe dream.

If it started in X why not just finish in X? Avid’s not exactly awash in unique finishing tools.

If you’re brand new I’d think you’d find the AFX learning curve to be significantly steeper than FCPX to accomplish the same task. But yes, knowing both apps- either is more than capable of achieving what you’re after.

it depends if you want real closed captioning or just titles. If it’s the latter you can just use normal text titles with FCPX itself.
