Can you give some hints to how I should set up a project to repeat this? AE CS3, CS4? Bundled effects or CCfx HD?

Hmm not really. Can you zip the plug-in and send it to support@cycorefx.com? We can do a check to see if it works over here.

All our plug-ins are CS4 compatible, CCfx HD, Path Tools and Sphere Utils.

    David,

    Thanks for the kind words.

You can actually get to the old particle systems by creating a preset. To make that easier for you we’ve made two preset “Classic Particle Systems FFX” that you can download here, https://www.cycorefx.com/dloads_ccfx.php. Put them in your presets folder and you can apply those to any layer, it’s “almost” like a standard plug-in 😉

    Lucas,

Please also report any issues directly to us at support@cycorefx.com. It will make easier for us to fix them and in shorter time. It will be pretty difficult for us if we have to scan all forums on daily basis to find bugs.

    Two things you can try.

    • If you have re-installed/upgraded AE you good tip is to delete the AE pref files. Launch AE while holding shift-cmd-option(alt) and you will be asked to delete or go to ~/user/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/9.0 and delete manually.

    • Delete “Particle World prefs” from ~/user/Library/Preferences/ manually.

Let me know how it goes.

  • You can also take a look at the CFX Path Tools package. These plug-ins are targeted at creating animations based on mask paths.

No problems Jimmy. I didn’t think it was harsh, things tend to get complicated out there and it’s easy to understand that will cause some frustration… 😉

It has to do with how it was when the contract was written. At that time there were no unlimited render engines included with AE and CCfx was bundled with a single user license. As this has changed with AE, unlimited render engines, the CCfx deal was the same and we were allowed to sell additional RO licenses. We made the decision to keep the price low and attractive instead of being greedy, $490 US isn’t that much for unlimited CPUs.

The issue with AE7, MacIntel, CFM plug-ins and Rosetta was completely out of our hands, only Apple and Adobe could have solved that issue and we have no rights to ship any upgrades to the CCfx according to our contract, sorry.

No worries Nicholas. Don’t pull them down yet, speak to your CFO first. Yes $490 for unlimited seats per site/location. If you have many sites/locations I’m sure we can work something out that will be attractive. Yes software can sometime get confusing 😉
