Thank you! It seems that I am at the highest Mac upgrade level for the Avid version that I have. How can I update my Avid? Is it a downloadable option, or do I have to completely repurchase a new Avid?

ok, thank you! I tried to do the mixdowns, and it gives me the option of Apple Pro Res 4444 MXF. Is this what you were talking about? However, this needs a ton of drive space. So I guess my main question is, am I able to export a file with the Pro Res codec and have it be small? The festival that needs it wants it under 3 GB. Is this even possible? I have a Mac, btw. Or, is there a free compressing program out there that I can use on an already exported file?

Ok thanks! I checked out Sorenson Squeeze and can’t afford it. Should I get Compressor 4? I could export same as source and then use that, right?

I was successful in having Avid 6 work on the OS X Lion operating system. However, I did have to change the read/write settings on my mac (ones that lion automatically sets), in order for Avid to open properly.

How do I unregister my avid? The program always quits before it fully can start up.

Ok, So I downloaded Avid 6.0.1 and it keeps shutting down on me. I’m trying to download the patch, but the instructions read…” Mac patches are full installers. You must uninstall your previous version first.” Does this mean I need to uninstall my Avid and then download the patch and reinstall? I won’t have to pay again right?

Hmm, ok thanks. My issue also is that I only have 1 month left to buy AVID at the student price. Should I maybe buy an earlier version 5.5.3? Or would that have the same issues….
