…also i usually export from FCP as a reference movie, which takes no time. THen use my custom H264 with timecode and watermark setting in compressor, and it super quick and doesn’t take up FCPs time

    hi
you can add a watermark in compressor to use as a background for timecode. You just need to change the order of the the watermark and timecode filters to make the timecode appear on top of the watermark. To move them you just pick them up…

I make a 1920×1080 png with the timecode background in photoshop – it needs a little tweaking in terms of where the window is.

try exporting small sections of the timeline to isolate where the problem might be…a bit of a jpeg and a bit of videoetc…

You could also try changing your jpegs to tiffs or pngs. I have recently started using PNGs instead and they seem to work a little better

    Hi
i suppose it seems to think its linked, but it doesnt look like it is, or act like it is, until i go away and come back to it. There are work arounds like unenabling the unused track, but worrying every time i export that the audio is going to be correct is frustrating.

    thanks

I think its a myth because no one really talks about it.

I don’t mind the file size of uncompressed SD myself either…but when it comes to transferring rushes over http://FTP…ProRes makes a BIG difference. Thanks for your help.

    Hi
Definitely always use the same frame size. Will make your life a lot easier later with smy resizes, as you say. If you can live with the quality make them exactly the same as your timeline.
