    Hi
have been requested to provide various versions of an Full HD ProRes PAL master, including an SD 16×9 version and an an SD 4×3 version. I havent been given more spec than that, so is it worth (or even do-able) keeping the codec as ProRes, or shall i re-encode it as uncompressed 8bit SD

    thanks

ProRes can do SD or HD, 4:3 or 16:9.

    As Ryan wrote.
There is a widely spred myth about ProresHQ is for 2K stuff, but there is no relation between codecs and picture size.
Prores was designed to overcome the huge file size of the Uncompressed codecs.
BTW, with the actual price and speed of the storage system, a full Uncompressed workflow in SD is quire feasible. Few years ago that was reserved for rich people.

I think its a myth because no one really talks about it.

I don’t mind the file size of uncompressed SD myself either…but when it comes to transferring rushes over http://FTP…ProRes makes a BIG difference. Thanks for your help.
