[Jared Hawco] “I don’t want to de-interlace the whole timeline during export”

my advice is to export the entire timeline,
    then re-import and de-interlace.

the main reason i do this is that i generally have a fair few motion effects,
and even after you de-interlace a shot or clip, the MOTION is still interlaced, and can look weird.

and if you are still on FCP7, then yes, as Shane says, you are able to use one of the best de-intelace plugins around.
if it’s not still on the market, you could contact Graeme Nattress, directly, and see what you can arrange

your frame-rate mis-match is certainly worth doing further research on, too.
I’m from PAL land, and cant help there, sorry

hi Raju, i meant the Sequence Menu, in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
in there are various setting for what it is you render.

but yes, trashing prefs would be the next move.

my first reaction would be to check what you are choosing to render in the Sequence Menu >Render settings.
but if, as you say, *something * is being rendered, then maybe that’s not the answer

are you sure you’re rendering the section you think you are?
perhaps you have something else selected?
of course that would only happen once, then it wouldn’t rendered a second time.

you could keep an eye on your render folder to see what, if anything, is actually being rendered.

other than that it seems like a good time to trash your preferences.

    hi Charlie.

from FCP7 you can easily export OMFs that can be imported (also easily) into ProTools.
there’s a 2-gig limit to the OMFs that FCP can make,
so depending on the size of your project, you may have to split into smaller sections,
and/or limit each export to a certain number of tracks

other than that, OMFs from FCP are easy and reliable

using Automatic Duck you can export AAFs which can also improved into ProTools.
the AAFs don’t have the file-size limit, but you would be best to do a fair bit of testing,
just to make sure it will work when the time comes.

if you contact me I can get you Auto Duck

[Brett Sherman] “And I won’t get into why I think LTO storage is a really shortsighted, awful idea in most cases.”

Given the nature of this forum i’d say go for it!
I’d be interested to hear your take on it.

    glad it got sorted ☺

Michael, rather than discarding half the audio, would it her better for John to pan his clip Left and Right?

yes it could very well be a phasing issue.

I think the default in FCP is to capture as Stereo, so unless that has been changed by the OP it could be a monitoring issue.
been a long time since i captured something off tape so i could be wrong!

    October 28, 2018 at 9:21 am in reply to: fcp 7 audio/video drift/sync

[Ted Coakley] “I’d like to have that clip play in Quick Look/Finder again, if possible. Anyone know how to get that working again?”

try exporting the file from the FCP viewer window, using the default “same settings”
export with the exact same name (basically don’t change anything)
cheek the export, then if it plays fine,
replace the original with the export.

exporting from the viewer window will keep the metadata of Reel# and timecode.
