well i haven’t had to deal with 10-angle multiclips.
3 is about all i ever need, and i’m not having any show-stopping dramas with them.

FCP has had multclips for quite a few years now, and if it was totally inadequate, i guess we would have heard about it.

still, you have to ask.
but you aslo have to give more info yourself.

what format do you hope to work with,
what gear do you have, etc, etc

if you work with Offline RT, for instance, you probably wouldn’t need an Xsan.

no howls of derision, BUT..
you are trying to address a field-based problem with no way of seeing fields!

you might as well get me to do the job for you over the internet!

however you CAN easily hook up a monitor to an i Mac.
FW out of the iMac, into a drive, presumably,
FW out of the drive into a DV camera or deck,
then video & audio out of that and into your monitor.
simple!

you may also be trying to hard with the Mpeg file you are making.
best approach is to export a QuckTime movie from FCP,
then deal with that in compressor, or DVDSP.

but here’s how i CAN solve your problem over the internet.
drop a de-interlace filter on the whole lot…
presto – no more fields!

the obvious question is what format is your media in?
and can your drives cope with 10 streams of it?

Hi, Callum.

thanks for getting back to me.

1- yes TV is plugged in and turned on prior to starting up.
2- yes, Intensity is (now) in top slot.

it used to be on the slot just above the Graphics card.
looking in the manual, i noticed that all the diagrammes had it in hte top slot, (even though it says any will do)
so i moved it there in my last round of trouble shooting.

i’ll fill in the form and get onto support.
i’m traveling for a week now, and will hopefully get it sorted when i return.

oh, yeah, TV is a 32″, i think (80cm)
good size for the office, where it’s closer than if it were at home.

my problem seems to be similar to yours, but you got yours working, i thought?
mine wont work at all.

while you can do a simple speed mod to an audio file,
you cant do time re-mapping.

you will have to export the audio WITH some video then re-import it for this to work.

simple way to do this is to drop the audio clip into a sequence and export from there.

surely you can assign a QuicKeys (or similar) macro to ANY control surface with programable buttons?
i could assign a thousand step macro with nested macros inside it to a mouse button if i wanted to.

here’s a different approach, using RECONNECTING

have one sequence with one entire film on it.
stack different audio versions in the audio tracks,
add new audio as it comes in.

for each new language just solo that language track,
and EXPORT a reference movie.
reference movies are small files and quick to make
append the language and give it a .ref so you know it’s a reference movie

to swap out one language for another,
copy the sequence into a new project,
select all, reconnect, and navigate to the new language’s ref movie.
if each feature is one file, then you should be able to do a reconnect for each movie in one go.

smal problem is the NAME of the clip wont change with the reconnect.
so..
once you have reconected,
select the sequnce in the browser, then Tools Menu > Create Master Clips.
right click on the clip/s in the browser, and choose Modify Clip Name to File Name.

FCE doesn’t destroy or negate the TC, it just ignores it, i believe.

so when you open her project up in FCP,
the clip’s TC will still be intact.
