Thanks for the input Jay… nice to hear from someone who uses Vegas as a tool for editing to make a living… that’s priceless real world experience and as such a very valid answer to the question.

Of course basing anything on a single opinion is not sensible so I’ll be interested to see if anyone else has the same experience with 12 & 13… again hopefully used with the same hardware to gain a realistic comparison.

Holy creative cow Batman !!!…. You don’t own a copy… you have to rent it…? That’s not readily obvious when you look at the Adobe website so thanks for that John. Not sure I like that idea at all either.

And as you say apart from Avid, which is slow AND expensive, there is nothing else. Now it makes perfect sense why those who don’t want to use Apple product and FCP X and don’t want to rent their NLE really need to make the best of SVP.

I’ve been having several conversations with a few custom builders of Hardware and I’ve seemingly opened a can of worms when it comes to support for modern GPU’s by SVP.

But in fact, the takeaway advice is that if I want the best performance in a portable workstation (and you can get some seriously powerful kit inside a custom build nowadays) then I’d be better off to drop SVP and move to the Adobe suite because it has more money and people updating it to make use of ALL the latest graphics cards.

So my question now changes and is aimed at all of the guys here who use Vegas to make a living as part of their job as Pro Video Editors.

Yes.. it suddenly crossed my mind that you may have been referring to what is the Switchable graphics menu having seen it when I loaded the AMD driver for Windows 7 x64. I always check through everything and every setting that the tree menus take one to when new software is installed. It’s in the right click menu on the desktop screen and fairly instinctive for me that it is set up to save power when using battery…. but thanks for pointing it out… understandable how some people may miss how those settings are important to ensure one gets the best from a mobile GPU.

Now that is quick…. I’ve come across the plextor M.2 SSD’s which claim 770 read/write which outperforms the others like Samsung but not seen the likes of that speed you are quoting anywhere I’ve looked.

Please…. link me up… I’m doing a stack of research at the moment trying to decide which mSATA I’ll go for in the 1st slot available (and I have 2 x M.2 slots with the chassis I’m looking to populate so I’m almost spoilt for options)

1200Mbps is surely as fast as I’d imagined I would want from a RAID set-up but why would I bother if it can be obtained thru a PCI-e slot.
