Thanks. I’m sure the clips are not in use. I have now been led to believe this is a bug. I have hidden all of my projects and still can’t delete any clips from events.

Ah, sorry. I have indeed posted this in the wrong forum – I am using Final Cut Pro X. Is there a way of moving the thread over, or closing it so that I can ask again in the right place. Or perhaps someone here uses both apps?

Sorry for being rather dumb, but I can’t see where the canvas settings are or the little box with the “image and wire frame” settings, and I have looked!

  • Thanks. Not sure what you mean by “make sure your font is loaded” though. How would I check this?

  • Thanks. I have applied a clipping mask as per the instructions in the article you linked to, but it isn’t working as it should.

I added a green color layer (set to color blend mode) above the pencil layer as follows:

and then reduced the opacity of the pencil layer to 50% which resulted in the following:

Then I added the clipping mask as follows:

But this takes away all of the green as follows:

  • Thanks. I have got the colour layer working well with the pencil by using color blend and altering the opacity of the pencil layer.

The pencil does have a transparency, and so I get the following:

I can work out how to make a clipping mask by drawing a shape, but am not sure how to make that shape the pencil. Essentially I need to remove all the green around the pencil to see other layers below

I haven’t had any reply from the folks over in the flash forum. I am presuming it must be possible to achieve the effect I am looking for, otherwise people on this forum wouldn’t have put the time into helping me. Any other suggestions as to what I can try to get this working?

    Thanks

Is flash the only way to go for creating a movie file with a transparent background, with a small file size that can be overlaid on other content in a webpage?

Essentially all I am trying to do is to get some smoke coming out of a tube (static PNG image).

Thanks. I used unMult in AE to remove the black background from the stock footage and then rendered as an FLV file with an alpha channel, using the On2 VP6 codec. In AE I can see the transparent background, but in the resulting FLV file I still have a black background when I embed it in a webpage or play it in a Flash Player.
