The suggestion I would make is that you devise it in such a way that the in and out points match, thereby making it much easier to loop.

Okay I can easily understand how 24 (or 25) Progressive looks very different from 60 Interlaced, but what I can’t understand is how 60i from the 5DIII looks so different, in terms of motion, than the XDCam at 60i. I will say that thanks to Warren’s advice to shoot at a 60th of a second I’m getting much less ‘judder,’ but still see some.

No. It’s a several years old Sony Cinealta PDW-F350 with a 3.3mm wide angle zoom. Maybe I’m just used to its look, but it seems to handle motion better. Wonder if it would help if I went under settings on the 5DIII and reduced the sharpness setting? I love the image quality the 5D III produces on static shots so I wouldn’t want to compromise that.

That wasn’t me. It was Warren Eig. I’m a newbee trying to learn the ins and outs of the 5D III because I’ve seen so many others doing nice stuff with it.

If you’re testing the lens that came with the T2i on a 5D be pay careful attention the corners and edges of the image, especially at the widest angle setting. It’s quite possible that the T2i lens casts a narrower circle on the sensor. The fact of the matter is with lenses, like so many other things, you get what you pay for and big glass costs big bucks.

Actually the limiting factor is likely to be the T2i. That’s why with still and now video I’ve always stuck with the full frame Canons like the DS1, Mark I and II and now the 5D. I believe that on a sensor the size of the T2i at 18mm you are getting the equivalent of a 28mm lens on a full frame camera, so semi-wide but not wide-wide.
One of my favorite lenses is Canon’s 16-35mm, f2.8 zoom. I favor wide angle shots for the kind of industrial work I do. The downside to this lens is the cost. Around $1,650 I believe, but Canon has a mail-in rebate of $200 on this and several other items until July.

I thought I had tried them in my attempt to go from a 60th to 500th. I will spend more time over the weekend experimenting. Your time and input are greatly appreciated.

Thanx, Warren! I’ve been shooting in 60i. Shouldn’t that make the judder better (less) rather than worse (more pronounced)? I’m going more for the look that will cut well with our regular camera which is 60i.
Also, the camera is only a couple of weeks old, should it not already have the latest firmware?

I’m with Todd on this one, but probably for different reasons. When the LinkedIn invite comes from a client I accept them so as not to seem rude or disinterested. However fellow bovines, I rarely will accept an invitation from someone in the same businesses I’m in. With clients potentially viewing LinkedIn why would I ever think it’s a good idea to provide them with direct links to others who could do for them what we do?
