buy nucleo pro too, I find I hit the problem less when running that vs. the internal renderer….

Don’t get your hopes up;
We have 2 octos fitted with 32 gigs of ram and they both sported that screen before. We set it to purge after every frame, which hypothetically could add maybe 5-10% of a render time, but who cares if its going to work 100% of the time and not crash. Its such a stupid error!

Go to your prefs, hold shift and go to Secret in the dropdown.
Set it to purge ever 1 frame.
That always worked for me.

Do some research at the sites. I’ve used both, and the only con looks like that the AJA’s don’t support dual boot. Thats why I steer towards black magic. However, a lot of core guys I know say AJA AJA AJA, and no no no to Black Magic.
If you’re booting windows, go Black Magic. If you aren’t, go AJA.
You can probably use the monitor, you may need a DVI converter for the card. They aren’t that pricey. However, after the cost of that, you might be better off just buying a true HD monitor…

I guess I’m confused. Even if we don’t use the plugins, the ability to farm out locally to a 32 core machine for convenience would outweigh the inconvenience of the potentially realtime crappo hardware based plugins.

I doubt the plugins would be used, but moreso for just the brute force and convenience. Convenience is something I’ve never had in an AE farm, I found that the watch folder feature is a bit finicky, and I usually set things up by hand over 5 or so boxes (your typical skip existing frames feature). Not bad, and it takes about 10 minutes and some patience.
Contemplated an app like RUSH, but I’m not much of a developer if things go wrong. Waiting for someone to release a shake qadmin setup for AE, but that seems hard to find. We’re entirely OS X, if that matters.
Random question, anyone use the new digieffects product yet (damage i think..)? Is it worth it? Its cheap, and may work well hand in hand with Twitch.
