September 1, 2014 at 4:32 am in reply to: can I change aspect ration for proanimator 4.3.2?I finally got a chance to work on this project and I set my solid layer to 720×1280 just like my comp settings. The only problem was that I can’t use the button called make comp size, because it is grayed out. This was a simple tutorial that I watched a few years ago and can’t find it. I would like to start from scratch and build in 720. Do you have this tutorial on the zax site?
here is a pic of my session. Maybe it will help out

Thanks again. I am completely with you. I hate Mavericks and wish I never upgraded. I am storing all my media on internal SATA discs at 7200rpm 16-31MB buffer, so I am not using the OS drive.
I think I am going to partition one of my drives and go back to SN and run FCP and some Adobe CS4 Apps.
I have 2: 1TB Drives and 1: 2TB Drive in my bays. Would 500GB be safe to load FCP and a few apps or can I go a bit lower. I also have an older version I Zaxwerks Proanimator, that I have old media plugged into.
Thanks.

Thanks, that helps. Here is what got me into the situation. I haven’t edited video for a few years and was slowly getting back into it. I went to the Apple store and was going to buy a new iMac as my upgrade (I am holding back on the Mac Pro Cylinder). They told me my 8 core would still have more power. Since things were running slow on Mavericks, I took it in to have it looked at. They said I needed more memory. Just mail and Firefox will use up 4-5 GB when open.
Anyway, I may upgrade to FCPX. Since that is 64 bit, will more memory help me?
BTW, it is hard to edit 720 without my machine gumming up and dropping frames on the lowest RT setting. It is even harder when I have graphics that are even rendered. Do you have any tricks that could help me get FCP3 (FCP studio 7) running a little smoother since I don’t need more memory? I can’t afford a raid array or a solid state drive right now.
Thanks for all your help!

April 22, 2014 at 1:14 am in reply to: looking for 3 cheap cameras that wil sync and I can run mics into for good soundThanks all for the advice. I was searching and I ran across PluralEyes 3. I don’t have FCPX, just FCP3. I also have Adobe Premier CS6. I haven’t edited in a while. Is there a tutorial for CS6 that anyone knows of off the top of their head.
If I am going to use cheaper consumer cameras, I can run my lav mics into a mixer them into my mac book pro to capture sound. I guess I can then take the SD cars from the 3 cameras and do a multi cam edit after I sync.
Again, thanks for the ideas. There are a lot of 300 dollar consumer cameras out there that would work for me and this project.

Thanks. I have checked all my connections and that is what is worrying me. I don’t do much VO anymore. I work as a set dresser and catch an occasional VO for an old client. I wrote and book and I am reading it to CD. I wanted to have some post processing for my private work. I even have a few clients that like to “drop the audio” and want the compression and a bit if pre sweeting for quick TV turnaround.
I will play with the setting you recommended. When the compressor was set up, I put a mark next to the setting in case the dbx ever was bumped. That is why I can’t understand the big change. My mic placement is the same. If I read a a lower volume level, I can hear the compression kick in. I am going to use the other channel on the dbx and also play with your recommended settings.
Thanks for the help. Hopefully I will become better trained in pre and post sound.

June 11, 2013 at 10:34 pm in reply to: Panasonic AJ-P2AD1G MicroP2 Memory Card Adapter questionsIs the HVX 200 being phased out? I can still use the camera with my dual adapter on a leopard boot drive. Will the AJ-PCD2 P2 Card Reader work on OSX Mountain Lion, or is this going away as well?
Thanks.

June 11, 2013 at 8:52 pm in reply to: Panasonic AJ-P2AD1G MicroP2 Memory Card Adapter questionsHi Jan,
Just to be sure, the adapter itself won’t work? Even without Panasonic’s SD card and a regular SDHC?
Thanks.

What output settings are you using in your camera menu to get the MAC to see the card as an hard drive? I know FW doesn’t work and I don’t play with the output options much for my HVX200. I want to try the mini USB method.
If there is a series of steps, please let me know.

thanks. I haven’t played with this software in over two years. I managed to make a cube into a 6×9 and mapped the from and back of my book cover on it. I guess I need to learn a bit more to get it to do exactly what I am looking for. If there are any tutorials out there, let me know
