OK so thats a GPU rather than an I/O, you don’t say which application you are trying to accelerate but CUDA is certainly going to help with things like Resolve for example. Not sure about fitting in AGP slots or adapters though so sorry cant advise you there.

What happens if you try exporting say the last 20 mins only. Do you get it all or do you get about 5 mins and the last 15 still missing ?
Just wondering what is significant at the point it cuts off ? Corrupt file or render maybe ?best wishes

Hey Aindreas as a very long term Avid user have to say I agree with you about the FX set-up it really has never been Avid’s strong point and I much prefer the way Legacy handles it. In fact that was one of the main reasons that I used Legacy for my own work over Avid. That and the need for expensive Avid hardware at the time. Now my Kona 3 works so well I am slowly reverting to Avid in all scenarios but hell yeah the FX can be “funky”

Really ? I have not found that so much, everyone has a good old moan about this or that, at least among the places I work.

OK we are getting there. No the audio from your camera is analogue. So yes you need a couple of RCA to XLR adapters.. AES/EBU is digital audio so you will have no luck trying to use that. Make sure your Kona is set to analogue audio in via the XLRs and that should work.
In terms of the HDMI You can switch on colour bars on the Kona panel. If you do that it will at least give you a constant signal that should help you troubleshoot your video monitoring. I assume you are outputting in the correct signal type ? Is your monitor HD if thats what you are using ? Kind of hard for me to diagnose much past that on the video side of things. No the component cable does not carry any audio. You need to use the camera audio cable and set the camera to AV1 output.
You then connect the audio to the analogue in on the Kona. You will likely need adapters for this RCA to XLRMake sure the output of the Kona is set to be the HDMI then you should see something

The Kona 3 is a very good video I/O card. However its purpose is to provide video connectivity using various methods, SDI, Component etc and audio connectivity
both analogue and digital for full video and audio capture and monitoring. It also gives realtime up and down scaling for SD to HD or vice versa.
It does not accelerate renders or, like the Matrox, provide hardware acceleration to video processing for H264 for example.
So unless you are looking to hook up decks and broadcast monitors its probably not going to help you.best wishes

This is not something that I have tried but there is no reason why it wouldn’t work as long as all the settings are correct.
You need to make sure that the camera is set to give component out. This is in the signal setup menu and you have to select comp out.
Then you need to go to the Kona setup and make sure that the card is set to the correct standard and select component in (rather than SDI etc)
You will also need to hook up the audio and make sure analogue audio is selected on the Kona settings.Once thats done you should pretty well be there. Do you have a monitor that you can check whats happening that will make things easier.
I have to confess I don’t know what comes out of the component output in terms of 1920×1080 or 1440 etc but you just need an easy setup to match in FCP
If it is 1920×1080 the just use the appropriate Kona LHe HD ProRes setup
The downside of this method is that you wont be able to control the camera via FCP but I guess you can just hit play on the deck and use capture now
That should get you somewhere close – I am not really that experienced with that camera so someone else might chime in with further help.

Like Chris add a “me too” – I largely work on Avid often with Interplay and often in a multi-user environment and in that situation I don’t think any other NLE is a mature or solid. Of course it has its moments but Media sharing is usually trouble free and it allows easy collaboration, bin and project sharing which in tight turnaround situations can be a lifesaver. I am often working on part of a story with another editor working on a 2nd part. Generally its pretty seamless.
I am in London and my legacy gigs have almost dried up over the last year, mostly due to my clients that had it switching to Avid.best wishes

I have had that message before when I have previously had say an HDV deck connected and then disconnected it. The next time I start that message pops up.
I just click continue and it resets the external device back to none and all is OK. Is that not happening in your case ? Cant you get past that screen ?
If so then totally worth a prefs trash as Rafael suggests.

Its always a bit awkward trying to make a smooth keyframed move across 2 clips. If the 2 pieces of animation match, I mean without any key framing they join invisibly then you should be OK.
Essetially as long as the last frame keyframe of clip 1 matches the 1st frame keyframe of clip 2 you should be on your way to getting it to work.
However perhaps an easier way, as long as the 2 clips fit together without a jump in the first place is to just export the 2 clips into a single clip and re-import and then keyframe as required. There are probably other ways of attacking this too, I am sure someone will chime in with an alternative/better method.
But thats worth a go in the first instance.best wishes
