Isn’t this true of the new Pro Tools and Audition, as well?

Audition ive never used, because it isnt a full fledged DAW as fas i know?
I think Pro tools 11 changed its whole plug in architechture to AVX or something like that so thats a whole nother story. No more RTAS at all.
I was kinda hoping for 32 bit plugs to stick around a while. Not a big deal really, just wont be updating alot of my plug ins yet. Actually wont go up to X until i see more features i actually need. So far its all just spit and polish to me.

Man, no 32 bit support is a big bummer. I dont feel the need to keep up to date with my audio plugins and tools the same way i do with video, cause well i dont really make any money off audio so in order to use this release i would need to spend thousands upgrading my Audio plugins; Native Instruments, Waves, Sonalksis, etc,etc) . Also 10.8.4. means until Media Composer goes up to that i cant use it anyways w/o dual boot.
That said the UI additions look great! Looking fwd to using that interface one day. The mixer is sexy as hell. New Flex tool looks good. New VI’s look cool.
Kinda underwhelming in terms of improving what was already there, audio editing still has a way to go, the sampler needs a complete overhaul to compete with third party offerings, automation, etc.
Lots of mixed feelings about this release but overall relieved they didnt change the core of the app.
Also for for 200 bucks, the price of most plugins these days, this app is a steal!

i think its pretty awesome FWIW.
The background processes are huge, some editors still do there own transcoding every once in a while. They actually work in the background, unlike FCPX which pauses till you stop working. The dynamic folders seem great although i havent really wrapped my head around all thgey can do.
The frame flex is super legit and still works after transcoding so clunky AMA isnt an issue, speaking of AMA, much better performance on my end. Can actually play back the h264 sequences i onlined w/o dropouts. AMA Prores is cutting like butter. R3D much smoother. LUT support, i mean theres a lot to like with this release.
The new audio stuff is very welcomed and cached waveforms is a HUGE addition,. and works very well!
On top of that its pretty solid IMO for a .0 release. Havent really broken it yet. couple glitches when switching back and forth between apps quickly but who knows, nothing major.

shes awesome. I dont even bother trying to email anyone else. Mind you the only problems i seem to run into are activation, licensing, etc. but shes always on point, friendly, and professional.
Avid should be paying this woman the moon, for how many customers she keeps happy.

there goes bill again. Yea buddy, your the only who can figure it out! Its not that different. Its a matter of do editors WANT to edit differently. Not CAN they. Anyone can figure out the app, lots havent deemed it worthwhile yet. Your condescending tone toward those who havent jumped in fullforce is old and stale. The only time it seems you post is when theres a success story, ansd you just want to say i told you so. How old are you again?
That aside. I pick up at least one job a month on the freelance tip, as i have a staff job, but like to keep things interesting and earn a little extra dough. I personally think the freelance world is where X will get its shine. Especially with the trend these days going much much cheaper, its only natural X will come to play. Ive done one job on it already. Did i hate it? No.. did i love it, no. Was i able to finish, Yes. Did i get paid Yes. If i had achoice i woulda picked Avid top to bottom tho, but that just me. As things keep getting cheaper, and people want things faster, X will get its time, but i dont see it taking off in broadcast markets or film anytime soon. Not saying never, but def not soon.

Just installed a couple hours ago. So far so good. The new features are working as advertised, background process are sweet. Seems just as snappy and stable as the newly released 6.5.3 and all my old projects are opening fine, playback etc. For a .0 release im pretty impressed. Cant wait to really put it thru the paces but first impressions are good!

best build of 6\6.5 yet imo.. would definitely recommend if your on 6.5
stable and snappy, even on blackmagic hardware. Almost scared too try 7 now on account i only just got the 6.5 ive wanted for months.

Im excited. Avid is my main NLE both at home and at work (although were still rocking 5.5 at work) Just waiting till the weekend to try it out. Not a huge rewrite or anything but some very welcome features, mainly REAL background transcode, not transcode that stops when you start to work ala FCPX. Cant wait to see that work in the real world. Also the built in LUT and frame flex thats keyframeable is gonna be sweet.
FWIW, going into FX mode can be made with one key command (mine is shift-y) where in FCP 7 you have to double click and tab over.
Actually more steps the FCP 7 way.
