Hey Bill,

The reason I started this thread is that my main freelance editor emailed me to remind me this is the time of year we have done a video for a very large company (last four years) and maybe I should tickle them. So I emailed and got an answer that my main contact there has left but she referred my name to the head of the department responsible. I feel it’s probably too late…

You had mentioned the ability to “tickle”, that’s exactly what I should have done a few weeks ago. How does this work in FP? How does it integrate with your calendar, through iCal? Or does it create a desktop reminder? I still use a paper calendar book because most of the time I am booking myself I am in my van or on lunch break for a shoot, but I guess I could manually enter a tickle note.

What’s a TB connection? I have two Cinema Display monitors presently, since the iMac has such a large one then I figure I will just need one of my present ones. Can you please tell me what I should do in terms of upgrades? I don’t do a lot of heavy graphics, mainly documentaries and corporate videos. Between the $1300 and $1500 is there a big speed difference for the kind of work I do?

The only reason I need burned in TC is for the client to choose takes. Also, it’s in Portuguese so I need fairly exact numbers. That’s why I did the burn it.

What options are there? I miss VHS window dubs!

It says 4 hours. I can’t get into my codec settings until it is done since exporting locks me out. I tried DV/DVCPRO because a YT tutorial suggested that, it didn’t help so I am still doing H264. I put quality to medium, made audio mono, closed apps, reduced size to 320×180 (don’t know if reducing the size helps), so I did all the usual suspects. I am thinking it’s just the nature of the beast of a 29 minute sequence that has the TC reader overlayed on it.

I could use Proxy Mill, the codec of the camera was AVCcam from a Panasonic AF100 but my understanding is once I bring it into FCP it is then OK.
