By double clicking on the narrow rectangular window near the top left of the screen, open up the inspector and there will be a row of icons in the inspector window. The fourth window from the left will be “filters”, click the video tab and scroll to Time Code Generator and click the box. Be sure to change the color of the numbers to white. Because I was doing a test over color bars and couldn’t see the numbers because they were keyed over the black portion of the color bars. Duh!
