OK. The seq settings was the problem. I no longer get the red bar AND the matte points go where expected.

Thanks everyone. Just one more question:

I’m on an old G5 and the hi def is taxing the computer. I really didn’t need HD but now I can’t re-shoot. So is there an easy way to make the hi def footage into SD? I can still do it in HD but it would slow the process way down.

    Thanks.

Didn’t know that Motion did green screening. I’ll check that out.
    Thanks.

That’s the way it usually worked for me. But this time I’m putting it where I want it but it goes much farther than expected.

I’m pretty sure it has to do with the fact that I entered HD and my seq settings are SD. But I won’t know for sure till later today.

    Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by manually. I thought that’s the only way you can do it. Is there and auto function?

I always have to click on the plus sign to activate a particular point, then click or click and drag in the canvas to move it where I want it.

    Sounds logical.

I’ll be trying it out tomorrow afternoon and I’ll post the result.

    Thanks.

    Hi Michael.

I’ve figured out that I accidentally shot in HD. So, you’re right about the seq not matching. I’ll be making the changes tomorrow. Hopefully that will solve the matt problem as well.

    Thanks.

Thanks for the response. I trashed the prefs and got it back. If it happens again I’ll try your approach.

    Thanks for all the help.

Actually, I’m in the audio business so putting a limiter on the output master bus is not a problem for me. I’ve got what is basically a 90 minute concert. The audience, vocals and music tracks are all on separate tracks and have been already balanced and EQd to taste. But I’d like to get some more bang out of the whole mix without going over. That’s the reason for the limiter.

I’ve tried the option click to select only the audio tracks but it still selects the video that goes with it. Is there a way to do this? Or am I trying to do something that doesn’t matter. Should I just next the whole thing and not worry about it?

    Thanks.

Ah. I was wondering about nesting. So you can apply a filter to a nest. Great.
I was starting to try that out but couldn’t get the nesting to happen right.
I was trying to just nest all the audio tracks but it kept selecting some of the associated video tracks to nest as well.

I couldn’t figure out how to unselect the video and just keep the audio selected to nest.

    Thanks.

I agree. But I was hoping something was written that would keep me from reinventing the wheel. Just a little head start.
