Hi,

I had the same problem, my new Microsoft mouse wouldn’t zoom in or out in After Effects, although it would in Google Chrome and other programs, so I tried your steps.
And when I came to step 10, my mouse froze like said, and then my PC showed the Blue Screen of Death, rebooted, got another BOD, rebooted again and started System Recovery, I tried that but afterwards it failed and rebooted, I tried System Recovery 3 times, and only then it worked, but I’m glad my PC is working now.
I think it my mouse which probably isn’t equal to yours (Wireless Mobile Mouse its called)

I just wanted to say this for people who will also try it.
