Do you think that 256 will be fine for apps I will be using? seems all apple apps are around under 8GB each.

I did what you said and the device is still in USB audio ready. Pressing menu does nothing. I thought there was a reset combo of something like pressing and hold exit +menu or exit +record. nothing resets to standard mode.
