Although there are many things I’d like to add in order to use FCPX with my day to day work, one item keeps me from doing so. It doesn’t break the program, it isn’t absolutely necessary in order for me to complete my work. It just really aggravates me and taints the entire program:

The inability to move windows/modify your own workspace.

That’s it. If I could do that, I would work around the majority of the other issues FCPX has. Without that, I feel like I’m working in a cookie-cutter prison, and will never use the software. I want more options than “single monitor” and “dual monitor”. I don’t like being told how to work. FCPX makes me feel like my dad is standing over my shoulder at all times, making sure I don’t draw outside the lines.

I was having a similar issue (when selecting all clips it would take about five seconds for Premiere to recognize that I was doing anything at all). My solution was to close the metadata panel, then everything worked fine. I’m not sure if that helps at all, just my personal experience.

They replaced an entire motherboard for $1700. It was awful.

Thank you for responding! I actually had the same thought, so I borrowed a friend’s EX1 and ran some tests – worked perfectly, the direct capture was gorgeous. I called my Sony rep and he walked me through re-seating one of the internal cards. Didn’t work. So, I sent it off to Clark Powell to be repaired. Now I’m waiting to hear back. I was just hoping this would be a, hopefully, easier fix than a full-on repair. Oh well. Thank you!

The problem is being on a portable system and editing large amounts of animation I need to use Pixlet – I need the high compression with the kind of quality output Pixlet offers. I simply don’t have the space to work with anything else. That, and it seems to work fine on my system at home. Seeing as I’m currently in Japan with no access to my system back in the states, I have no other option at the moment. Suggestions are welcome, however.
