November 29, 2017 at 10:43 pm in reply to: Restore from Bru tapes without catalogs availableI am having this exact same issue. I have even tried leaving it overnight with no luck. I have used the Import Tool many times in the past with no issue, and it usually imports pretty quickly. Now, all of a sudden, I am getting stuck on this stage.
Have you been able to figure out a solution?

Hey Guys,
I apologize for not getting back sooner, been a hectic few weeks. Thanks for the great responses. Truly FCP7 multicam, and general media management leaves a lot to be desired. I have only started dabbling in FCPX, I like it, but am not sure if they have fixed these issues.
I agree that stacking clips, especially 6 cams, is cruel and clunky, but unfortunately, deadlines often supersede troubleshooting and since technology has a number of “well that shouldn’t be” types of problems, as Shane mentioned, sometimes we all need to take one for the team to get the edit done. I have used Plural-eyes, but I find it hit & miss. It works pretty well with maybe 2-3 clips and audio if each camera is just one clip, but anymore than that, especially if the camera turns off and on again a lot, producing many clips per camera, I find it often comes back a mess.
Anyway, I seem to have figured out the issue…Or at least got it working. I noticed in the Library, that FCP was not saving any preferences at all (there was no “com.apple.finalcutpro.plist” file). Not sure if that was the culprit, but I chose to re-install FCP and it seems to be working now. Is it possible it wasn’t storing, or shifting, the match frame?
Thanks again to both of you, this is such a great forum.

Hi Tim,
I did connect with them and they were incredibly helpful and thorough. Unfortunately, we determined this was a hardware issue. I sent it for repair and they told me the drive was essentially toast. We will be upgrading to a new machine. I am just unsure as to which one at the moment. As long as LTO-6 is backwards compatible, at least being able to restore from old tapes, I will likely go that route. Thanks for your help and responses.

Thanks Tim,
I was able to download the driver and re-install it. I am still facing the same issues though.

Thanks for your quick response. support.bru.com doesn’t seem to be working at the moment. I am planning to upgrade the OS once I figure out how to mount our XSAN volume on an upgraded OS, but that is another issue. Maybe you can help with my current BRU problem though.
Everything was working great until about 3 weeks ago. Now, when I go to back something up, BRU PE tells me the tape is full, even when it is a brand new one, and won’t back up at all. Also, when I go to restore an old project, it is telling me it cannot read header as the tape does not match the block size. I have not changed a single setting.
I do plan to upgrade the entire system, but for now, I just need to get this working. What I am using is,
OSX 10.5.8
BRU PE 2.0
HP StorageWorks 1760 SAS LTO4
ATTO H380 (I know it is old, but it has been flawless for the past 5 years) Any suggestions would be a great help. -
Silly question, but how were you able to flash your ATTO card? I have the same issue, along with not being about to archive anymore as of a couple of weeks ago. I am using OSx 10.5.8.

Since these are preferences, try to think of any settings you have changed recently that Avid may not have liked. I think in my case it was the target drive in Media Creation tool because that was the only thing I have altered.
Deleting these files will allow you to open the program but doesn’t solve why they were corrupted in the first place. Could be because something was changed or sometimes it can be chalked up to the wonderful world of computers. Just food for thought.
Cheerio,

March 15, 2012 at 6:39 pm in reply to: “Bus error” in thread “MainThread”, at address 0x0 while “initializing AVX2 Host”Are you using mac or pc? I’m on a mac and there is one in;
Avid (or Macintosh HD, mine is partitioned to run off different startup disks)/Users/Shared/AvidMediaComposer/AvidUsers/Avid/MCStateand there is one in;
Avid (or Macintosh HD)/Applications/Avid Media Composer/Settings/MCStateto save yourself some time just open a finder window and type it in the search at the top right corner, they will both pop up. Not sure on the pc but I would imagine if you were to open a finder browser and typed in MCState you would find it similar.
Also, there are other preference files you may want to delete as they can in fact cause problems too. Look for Site Settings, and Site Attributes (both located in the Avid/Applications/Avid Media Composer/Settings foler). You might want to consider deleting your project settings (.avs file)too. Since all of these are loaded into RAM upon start up, they can corrupt each other. Hope that helps.

March 14, 2012 at 9:55 pm in reply to: “Bus error” in thread “MainThread”, at address 0x0 while “initializing AVX2 Host”I actually found my problem. It was a corrupt MCState file. I think it might be because I changed target drives in media creation tool and moved the drive. Although I moved it with MC off, I opened MC with it removed before changing the target. MC opened fine the first time but not the second. Anyway, I deleted the MCState files (user & system) and now it works fine.
