FCP 7 multiclip sync issues
Hello,
I am having issues with FCP7 multiclip editing. We have a show demo we are doing, 2-6 cameras. Mix of 5D’s (MKII & MKIII), 7D & GoPro. Despite my wishes, the camera crew did not set up properly. No matching TC, no slates, cameras continually turning off and on, one camera even shot the wrong framerate. I know, editor’s dream. Anyway, we converted everything to ProRes 1080p23.98, and after hours of work, were able to sync everything and created multiclips of the scenes as per the editor’s request (normally I’d just stack the clips in the timeline and physically resize them for a faux multiclip. Things would stay in sync, but the editor won’t cut that way). A complete nightmare, but we got it done. However, it seems that whenever FCP is restarted, certain video clips are slipped out of sync. i.e. Cams 1-3 are ok, but 4 & 5 are out) Anyone know why this would be happening?
I was also having a problem setting the multiclip up in the first place. I would select my in points and create a multiclip based on in point, but they aren’t even lining up. I used to love FCP7, now….luckily this may be my last project with it.
