    Thanks for the reply, Walter,

I thought you had mentioned it in a Blue Ray / Encore posting that you had upgraded from PS7 to CS3 with no problem…. and were surprised that Adobe allowed it.. It is a 500 dollar savings.

Yes your right PS 7 does not work on my MBP as it reminded me today… I knew there was a reason it was not installed… Why upgrade until you needed it yesterday….

    thanks

    Steve,

I didn’t miss the boat,, I have just been saving my money……… and if you don’t stay current-current, it is the day to day in this business that you forget..

The Adobe web site states that you can upgrade to CS3 from Photoshop 7,,, and I am just double checking before I order because my PS7 is an upgrade also…

And PS7 does not run on MBP intels, so I guess I gotta donate to the Adobe Gods once more..

    ” In stock with RAID 0 / 5 support starting May 1st.”

I like the raid 5 support and I assume that is with just one adapter…. It would be perfect for extreme climates.

    Paul,

Thanks for checking. I always use a white card also. But why bring in a new camera with a known problem. Hopefully they will fix it before they ship it….. Ya think….

You mentioned that you have a great lens. What lens are you using? Is it HD with the CAC?

I ordered the camera without lens, so I don’t miss out on the rebate. Hopefully a couple of jobs later I can purchase a good piece of glass, but which kind???

    Paul,

Take your camera outside and just use the 5600 preset value and then look at your monitor. Do not use the white balance and white card method.

And get back to us wether you have a greenish cast to your blue skys..

I just ordered my HPX500…. It would be interesting to know if I should really worry about this issue..

  • Bob,

It is great that you popped up and told it straight. If this is the Berea College in Ohio. I hope Jay listens.

In Ohio, all and I am saying all our Pro-video contractors are AVID centric. Sure they will sell you FCP, only after they try real hard to sell you Avid. Why, me thinks the commissions are better in Avid land. And then they only know what is in the Apple catalogue.

That might sound a little rough, but I have yet to find an old school Pro Video shop (with college trained video engineers) who specialize in Final Cut Pro.

And that is why, I struggle to put together solid FCP edit stations and will build my HD version this summer all by myself in the Star City. And thanks to the COW and hours of reading this FCP forum it has been 5+ years of FCP and still making money..

Bob, Berea is just outside Cleveland. Call Jay and give him a price to fly in for a couple days and at least talk sense to the man (like is 50k enough). Believe me, I have not heard of anybody with your FCP qualifications in this state.

    Thanks David,

You have confirmed some of my hopes for this camera. I shoot Betacam SP with a Sony DXCwsl35. I was hoping when I purchased it that Sony would develop a pixel shift upgrade and HDV VTR back for this camera. But not..

It sounds from your reply that the HPX500 is an improved picture over the Sony DXCwsl (even with SD lens on HPX) The Panny 900 with 2 man crew commands a 2K rate in our Ohio market. It is my goal to match our Betacam SP rate (or slight rate uptick) of 1.4K per day with 2 man crew.

I would love to buy the 3000 for the image and the P2 workflow, but I know that our market will not support it and my current clients will not notice the difference.

I appreciate your pioneering spirit. Somebody has to be first inline…

  • Craig,

I am curious why you are using the IoHD to output the P2 cards from the HVX200 to FCP.

Is there a reason you are not just going straight firewire out of the HVX to the Mac-FCP.

The cards are 8bit. Are you trying to capture in Prores at 10 bit?

    Jan,

The new HPX500 that I ordered from our local dealer last Monday, will it arrive with the 5600 preset fixed or should we just mail it back for an early fix..

Has the HPX500 factory implemented the 5600 correction if so, when, manufacture date/serial numbers

I have yet to receive the HPX500 or hear of a ship to date.

    Thanks
