I didn’t miss the boat,, I have just been saving my money……… and if you don’t stay current-current, it is the day to day in this business that you forget..

The Adobe web site states that you can upgrade to CS3 from Photoshop 7,,, and I am just double checking before I order because my PS7 is an upgrade also…

And PS7 does not run on MBP intels, so I guess I gotta donate to the Adobe Gods once more..

I upgraded from CS2. Photoshop 7 does not work well at all with Leopard.

Thanks for the reply, Walter,

I thought you had mentioned it in a Blue Ray / Encore posting that you had upgraded from PS7 to CS3 with no problem…. and were surprised that Adobe allowed it.. It is a 500 dollar savings.

Yes your right PS 7 does not work on my MBP as it reminded me today… I knew there was a reason it was not installed… Why upgrade until you needed it yesterday….

I upgraded from 7. No problem.

There’s no limit on upgrades. But there is a limit as to how many versions you can skip. If you had version 6, you’d have to buy a full new version.

PS7 runs just fine on intel. As long as it’s not Leopard. Leopard killed PS7. Adobe should kick back some cash to Apple for that. Many people in the video world were still using 7 since the CS upgrades never really added any functionality worth paying for (for my needs at least). I still use CS3 like PS7 for the most part. Slowly learning the new features…

You really need to keep up on features…

1. Non Square Pixels
2. 3D Objects
3. 16-bit woth layers and nearly all adjustments
4. SPEED
5. Video Actions.
6. Edit Video Files
7. Shadow Highlights adjustment
8. Auto Align
9. Scripting and Workflow
10. Video Preview ability

and much much more….

Absolutely CS2 and 3 added a LOT more features for video graphics work.

2 – no need
3 – got by just fine
4 – I don’t notice any difference. 7 ran very fast emullated even.
5 – no need
6 – no need (Yet)
7 – I’d live
8 – nice, but not exactly earth shattering need
9 – I probably should script more
10 – really need to look into that, I use that in AE always

Not saying it’s not a good upgrade. But you know that list would be really great for a 1 version upgrade. But it took them three to get it. I’m surprised you didn’t mention things that I think are more useful like smart objects and multiple layer selection. Although I do think linking has taken a step backward. It seems that now I have to use a contextual right click to link the layers, but it’s ok.
